Ben Hartley ベン・ハートレイ (1933〜1996)
Ben Hartley was born in Derbyshire, England.
After leaving the Royal College of Art in London
and a few years teaching in Manchester,
he moved to Devon, and taught at Plymouth College
The environment of Plymouth which
suited him perfectly, and was foll in love with
the surrounding countryside.
He was a man who spent his life making pictures of
beautiful, vivid colour, humour and
a feeling of joy touched with poignancy.
His subject matter is the inspiration for
the whole of his life.
It is a story of his very simple life.
