(5/22, The Malcolm X Jazz Festival in Oakland)
The Malcolm X Jazz Festival is a beautiful and crazy radical musical phenomenal music and community and arts fest put on by the very dedicated staff at the Eastside Cultural Alliance in Oakland. This year is their 10th anniversary show and they need volunteers to make sandwiches! I have committed to gathering a group of strong and driven volunteers for that very task on Sat., May 22 and I hope you can help by joining us!
They are the bridge between art, culture, race, and justice. It'll be a fun and exciting way to give back while enjoying the festival at the same time!
volunteering experience for them!
Safeway and NBC are partnering on Saturday, November 20, to encourage Bay Area residents to help in providing turkeys, hams and other foods to those in need this holiday season .
We are in need of service clubs, youth groups, church groups, corporate groups, etc who are willing to recruit and organize their members to volunteer at one or more Safeway stores in the East Bay. The volunteers will hand out fliers promoting our holiday food drive and ask customers to consider purchasing a turkey or ham as a contribution.
At least two volunteers will be needed at each store for each of three 2-hour shifts: 9:00am-11:00am, 11:00am-1:00pm and 1:00pm-3:00pm. (You may choose to break these shifts into even smaller chunks of time depending on the number of interested volunteers in your group.)
Might you and your group be willing to represent the Food Bank on at a Safeway store on November 20? If so, please contact Sheila Burks at sburks@accfb.org, no later than Monday, Nov 1.
Your ongoing support is much appreciated especially in this time of need for so many.
