Thanks for all the Information, sevenphotos. My brother is going a little gunho for some parts. I still trying to figure out how reasonable it is to ship things back. I'm still looking for the best alternitives.
oh, i didnt say i accepted you, but welcomed you !! haha joking. i hope you will enjoy the community and chat with ppl here, anya.
Hello, everyone pleased meet you here.I would like to join in this community ,thank you.I have been in NY for two years but I am not good at using English still shy and loving sleeping.I dont know what to do but I am still young !
hi, kana, welcome to our community ! you are young - you said- thats probably why you dont know what to do !! haha joking. i guess you know what you want. you wanted to practice and improve your Englishand, you had been looking for a comunity like this, and you found it and joined us. you just did what you wanted to do. where in NY did you live ? I was in NY too.
Hello, the pleasure is mine. It's nice to meet you.I believe that a lot of people don't know what they are doing in life. Maybe I would to say that because it makes life more bearable for my own uncertain path. I think the world is so vast full different perspective, life styles, possibilities that it's natural to be unsure of oneself. Not to mention that people can question the world and one's existence. The world itself is still changing as well. That’s all I wanted to say. Welcome.
I am so happy to join here guys.
My exroommate and I used to live in East village of Manhattan and Queens. We were around 19 at that time and studying well at ELS class.
Did you meet any famous people in US? I met Lenny Kravitz and Meryl Streep .She was stretching at a room of a theater .I remember she was wearing gap outfit.
well,hello people
I am going to tell about my NY stories a bit again.
Like i wrote down before i had an roommate who came from Sendai in Japan. She was really rocking from first, breeched in hot redcolor and playing a guitar well.
Amazingly we met at Elumhurst st in Qeens when we even didnt imagine we gonna see again!?The apartment was also the same one so we started to becoming friends.
We used to go PUNK shops and once we went to a live of
HIGH-LOWS at CBGB in NY.It was so exciting!
Yoriko, welcome to out community :) its nice meeting you too ! you work in Odaiba, its close to my office, actually. My office is located near Shinagawa Seaside station on Rinkai line, btw.

you need something more than just having chat in English. yeah, i think i can understand it. English is a good communication tool that leads us to think we are all equal regardless of ages or whatever. Japanese language and some other Asian ones make you think who is elder and whom you have to show respect to, i dont say thats bad, but its not always fun. i dont like to speak japanese if i need to talk to strangers who I dont know are younger or older than I am. i dont like to see a few years older guy suddenly starts calling me Toguchi-kun after realizing that i am younger than he is. I dont wanna be showed too much respects from a new friend. anyways.

Its hard to say which language is better, but to communicate with friends, i think English is better if you want to be treated and treat them equal.

Kana, yeah friends you met abroad are precious ones right ? I didnt have many Japanese friends, or didnt see Japanese everday basis when I was in New York, thats why they are very special freiends to me :-) One of them was from my home town, and she was back from the US, so everytime I go home, I usually meet her for lunch or drinks. She is a good friend of mine still and I think for the rest of my life.
Small world - I go through Odaiba all the time, as one of my major clients is in Shinanome, and also whenever I am doing a photoshoot of a car within Tokyo, I usually end up somewhere around Odaiba.

It has to be a great place to work, but not terribly convenient to get to by train!

BTW, cheers Yoriko, welcome to the community.
sth,
welcome yoriko. (o_0) New Zealand...sounds interesting. What are some of the differences. I have never been to New Zealand but it sound like a fun place to go.
Yoriko,
I've been in the Toyota exhibition center many times - every time my editors come to Tokyo for the first time, they always want to go there! I'm an automotive writer/photographer, btw, which is why I've got lots of photographs from that area. ;)

Actually, it was only a couple of months ago that I shot a lot of pictures of the Toyota center, a writer hired me to shoot pictures of it, of him driving around the shutoko, and of him getting stuck in traffic in Roppongi. It's an interesting job. :)
Hi there everyone,

I just joined the community so I wanted to introduce myself as per the suggestion. I'm a Japanese Canadian who lived and studied genetics and plant breeding in Japan. I was there for a rather long 7 years, but I very much want to go back again.

I'm currently looking to try my hand in the translation industry and at present am trying to learn my kanji a little more solidly. Unlike the current generation of Japanese computer users who were gradually phased into the world of pasokon-byou (I'm not sure what else to call it in English :), I was pretty much "born" into it! So yoroshiku and I look forward to conversations.

If you want to write to me in Japanese please message me. I very much appreciate the language practice. I've a lot of hobbies so hopefully there's something we'll be able to discuss. I would welcome the practice learning business and science kanji as well.

L8r,
Gary.
stevenphotos, a nice photo ! is the car Subaru ?? I have been looking for a car to buy for myself recently. I used to drive a Honda Accord coupe when I was in NY. It came with a cruse control even with a stick shift, but here in Japan, not many cars come with the function except for the expensive ones.

Yoriko, i am sure that there is a huge gap between speaking English and Japanese not only in the language itself but in the cultural differences as you know. I felt very confortable working with people of difference ages in the US, but here, you need to ALWAYS consider who is older and younger, it sometimes tires me a lot. what was funny was, when I was working for Philips in NY, I had only one Japanese coworker who is older than me, I called him Takashi, his first name when we were with other members who dont speak Japanese, but called Sato-san when we talked alone in Japanese. He called me Kazunobu when ppl were around and Toguchi-kun when we were alone or with Japanese. I somehow enjoyed the situation very much. We know the languages and the cultures and customs, so it was our secret rule that no other ppl would understand in the office, lol.

Gary, here you come, welcome to our community. There is no rule like you should not write 日本語、so please feel 自由 to write in in Japanese :-B we may like to even communicate in the both languages, like you write in Japanese and we write in English and possibly correct mistakes we may make each other, haha.

Actually, this community has become a place where I use English most of my "English" time these days. I go to a pub from time to time and meet foreigners and speak English a bit. only very short time. it doesnt satisfy my desire !! lol

have a nice weekend - togucci
Togucci,
That is a special edition Subaru Legacy widebody by Corazon, which has a center at @cars in Shinanome Super Autobacs. They gave it to me for a half day to shoot. It was quite nice, actually.

There are quite a few nice cars made now, so it's actually hard to say which one is best - it really gets down to your needs. The Subaru Legacy with can come with cruise control as an option, though only on the automatic I think. Unless you are a hashiriya, though, I think an automatic is best for driving around Tokyo!

(I say that as a manual transmission owner, and hashiriya, myself) ;)

Given gas prices and such, a kei-jidousha may not be bad to get for just driving around Tokyo and such!
right ! an automatic must be a good choice if you live in Tokyo, right. I thik so too. I was thinking (might think again) to buy a Toyota Prius, thats a hybrid car so you wont spend too much money on the gas. a problem is, i just dont like its outfit !! lol
Its actually fun to see many cars on the web and think what i wanna buy or should buy. I think I will spend a few more months to think about it and wanna buy it by this summer.

girls, do you wanna go driving with me ? LOL
Well, I agree, the Prius is not too sexy. ;) The funny thing is, a kei-jidousha probably gets better gas mileage than a Prius!

But a car is just for fun in Tokyo anyways, so don't worry too much about gas! I always have a lot of fun driving a Mazda Roadster around Tokyo, or a Honda S2000 as well. A Jaguar is fun (in a different way) too, but it's too large for some of the narrow streets here.

Because car theft is low here, I think this is the perfect place to own a Porsche though!
i like Miyata, or Mazda Roadstar, but its too small for me. Porsche is not a car to me, lol

I have lived without a car since I came back from the US in 2002 and I dont have too much problems not having it, so I actually dont know why I wanna buy it :-( I think I just need it for some occasions from time to time, sometimes to kill time by driving around, sometimes just for fun, sometimes bring the car to the very far place with my friends. so i think i shouldn't spend too much money on it. it will take some time to decide one for me :( oh, if I win the lottery of this year's Green Jumbo, then I will buy one immediately :-B
hi, i'm okinawan, too( ̄ー ̄)ニヤリッ

i used to work at a foreign-affiliated bank few years ago.

Hi :)
My name is May. I live in CA right now, but I'm originally from Hiroshima.
I've been in CA for about two and half years and love communicating with people in English, but my English doesn't seem to improve...
So please be a friend with me and give me a lot of advice!!
I'm so excited to join this community :)
Hi everyone!

I just joined this community so wanna introduce myself a bit. I've ever been to Philippines and Korea, also stayed in the US and NZ for several months.
I'm an average college student in Japan and majoring in law. also am planning study abroad in 2 years.

Hope i can get many things from this community!
よ、こんにちわ、こっちは立派様と申しますけど、よかったら、SKYPEで話とかしたらどうです?ID: rippahisokasama.
Hi! I'm 汐那(Shiona).
Let me introduce myself. :)

I'm from Kanagawa, and live in Tokyo.
I used to live in WA for a year for studying English.
After that,I seldom had chance to talk in English.

I wanna find friends who can talk via skype.

I'm very shy when I talk with ppl at first time. X(

Especially, I'm not good at speaking with male, so please message me in advance! :)

My skype ID is.... shioshio03

Thank you.

Shiona
Oh boy! I've been looking for a community where I can practice my english.
I finally found one!
My name is ojyaki, I currently live in Yokohama, but originally from CA, US.
Like everybody else, I currently don't have any opportunity to speak english. I feel my vocabulary decreasing every day.

If anybody want to chat or practice english with me, please send me a message so we can start chatting over IM or using mixi.
btw, I have civid hybrid, wanted to buy Prius but it was back ordered for 6 months at that time, but I'm pretty satisfied with it. In CA you get to drive in a carpool lane even if your alone. This really is convenient if you need to commute to work.
hi, guys, i have been lazy lazy lazy lazy too much !! sorry for not responding to you guys for really long time :-(

めかるん、hi, I am okinawan as well. if you study everyday, getting over 900 is not not difficult. it just takes time, haha. keep on studying man !

Hi, May, you have been in the US much more than I had before. by the way, you can improve your English if you really try hard on it. ganbatte :)

立派様、
no thanks :) haha. joking. but i have never talked to anybody on skype, yet. maybe, I will try doing that later :)

りょうた、common ! you are in the US, there are lots of ppl speaking Eng around you !! haha. i know many japanese students studying abroad being around with some other japanese, are you one of them? then you will miss lot of chances improving your English, I think. anyways, ganbatte ne. and come here to talk to us in English!

汐名, have you gotten any message from others ? haha i dont know if there are lots of people who like to talk on skype here. as i wrote, I have never tried it yet. anyways, that must be a good tool to communicate with people in English. come stop by here and write something in English to start a conversation, here as well !

oiyaki, are you living in CA? Are you saying that if you drive a hybrid car, you can drive on a carpool even if you are alone? thats a good system. here, we dont have a carpool anyway !! too bad ! we are supposed to use a train and make it crowded hahaha.

thanks all for coming to this community !
chao, togucci
hi ToGucci,

I'm in Japan right now, I had to relocate because of my business and some personal issue. Currently in Yokohama.

If anybody else lives in Yokohama or near, let me know. I'll love to be in a community where we can have fun! Send me a mixi message so we can gather some time. Or if anybody prefers IM
I have an hotmail account,
ojyaki_k is my account name.

I'll be waiting for you.
アールグレー, so you must love Guinness and fish and chips with vinegar!! lol I love them, really. but I haven't tasted real Guinness in Ireland, yet. thanks for coming to this community :)

ojyaki, hi ! thanks for joining us in this community :)
i dont know how many of them are interested in communicating outside of this community by messaging or emailing :-( but if you come to the pub in jiyugaoka, you may be able to fine me, especially on the Friday nights :)
http://www.o-carolan.co.jp/
most likely, i am sitting at the counter talking to the staff and or somebody around me there :-p
ohhh i need the wings on my back!

i had extra cold Guinness when i was in the UK! It was goood. but the Guinness in the UK is not still good as those in Ireland, thats what i heard...

actually i dont drink canned Guinness here but one in a pint glass at a pub ;-D it tastes good to me!
hi mass, if you live near Jiyugaoka, why dont you come to the Irish pub(http://www.o-carolan.co.jp/) where I usually go on Fridays, for Guinness, fish and chips and English talks :-)

by the way, I am not a 回し者 of the pub !!! LOL

welcome to our community !!
I usually do, probably will do this Friday as well. i will go there next Tuesday, for sure.
Hi, のんちゃん、thanks for joining us :)
so you went to the US two times and have been to Australia too. good ! i have never crossed the equator in my life, so i really like to go there sometime, but not alone, hahaha.
(Is this group still going?)

Hi, my name is Rohan.

I am an internet junkie. I love how the internet can be used for learning English and Japanese. I make a video podcast if anyone is interested.

http://english4now.com

I also love how Skype has changed the (my)world. My three brothers live a long way from me and I can talk to them for a long time and it is very very cheap.

In Australia I am a Japanese teacher. In Japan I am an English teacher. (Now I am in Japan, maybe for another year or so.)

If I can help in anyway with your English or about Australia (Cairns), then please feel free to contact me.
