The very good news is that the new solo album is now finished!
Well, barring last-minute panics, nerves, remixes, remasters and so on. The cover is also nearly complete and it should be out in late May or, at the latest, early June. More news imminently.
There are a couple of DVD releases in the pipeline, which are going to come out on Voiceprint. First up will be the (trio) VdGG show at the Paradiso, which was on Fabchannel until that disappeared quite recently. We're also looking at the legendary K group Markthalle (Hamburg) Rockpalast show. More may follow.
On 8th June "Thin Air", my twenty-eighth album of original songs, is to be released. Once again it's a completely solo effort on which I play, sing, write and record the whole thing.
As always I feel a measure of uncertainty and strange anticipation as it emerges into the light of day. Until now the vessel has been hermetically sealed; now it's be opened up for good. Whatever I've done, whatever I've found, will be out there.
The bulk of this newsletter is about the new record. There are, though, several other things on the go which merit a mention.
Onward into whatever's next!
In the meantime and until later, as ever, thanks for listening.
We've got the visas, we've got the e-tickets, the gear is being picked up for shipping tomorrow....
VdGG is on its way back across the Atlantic!
And three shows are now confirmed in Italy at the end of July/start of August....
My apologies for the fact that this newsletter, supposedly the second one of 2009, failed to meet the December 31st deadline. Even the dodderiness of age cannot be much of an excuse for this. I will, however, aim to get in the traditional two in due course during 2010. Unless, of course, plans change...or there's nothing of real newsworthiness to report. Somehow I doubt that the latter will be the case.
For the most part the content here focusses on events of the past twelve months - I've left the past decade alone, for the moment at least!
Touring is now once again almost upon me and I look forward to seeing some familiar places and, I hope, faces along the way.
In the meantime and until later, as ever, thanks for listening.

First, A Happy New Year to one and all. It looks like it's going to be a busy one for me.
A new Fie! release will be out on Feruary 13th and we're now taking advance orders for it. Rather than nattering away here it's probably best just to direct you straight away to its page.
A new journal entry, which actually mirrors the information on the release page, is now up here.
Enough for now. The next studio album continues apace. More news will be in shortly.
Another date is now booked in for VdGG in 2012, the Montreal Jazz Festival on July 3rd. We're very pleased to be going back there. Of course, this does mean that we're looking at more dates in between the two festivals!
We're delighted to announce that VdGG will be appearing again at Nearfest on June 22nd 2012.
